Abbink X Co set up camp in the Rivierenwijk in Deventer for 3 days and nights. Housing corperation Rentree awarded the commission to design the urban plan as the first step to be taken in physically renewing this previously run-down neighbourhood. Abbink X Co initiated Camping X  as part of the research & design process with the purpose of really getting in touch with the neighborhood and to get an authentic feel for the daily life in this lively but struggling area. Neighbours joined AxCO for a chat around the fireplace about the recent plans to build new homes while enjoying a cappuccino or game of chess. By using a very low-key approach the architects aimed to collect as much information as possible to be implemented in their plans for the Delta School location, situated just around the corner from the camping site.
