The Tree is a new shelter for homeless families and fulfills a specific gap in the growing need for target group shelters. This ‘mega-house’ will be officially opened on the 29th of October.

The Tree is Hoofddorp’s new shelter for single parent families and focuses on the 150 year old beech tree which stands on the site as a witness of history and as a protector for the future.

This multifunctional building houses a new concept in the city centre of Amsterdam.: an extension of the neighbouring Montessori school, a childcare centre, the school gym, a rooftop greenhouse and the local community centre.

The Rivierenwijk in Deventer was marked as one of the first 40 neighbourhoods in the Netherlands needing special attention with regards to social, physical and economic issues. The Deltaschool location was researched as the first step in an ambitious plan to revitalise the neighbourhood.
